Photos and Life

I have been promising photos so here they are!

I'll start with the knitting...
I had a learning experience with this one. It is the "mother earth" bag and there was no gauge on the pattern. The crazy people just told me to use worsted weight yarn doubled and size 7 needles. Its like knitting cardboard. So I did some switching around and got a cute little shoulder bag for my efforts. There is still some yarn left that I could make a little top flap for the bag but I am not sure yet on that.

Close up of the lovely stitches and colors.
I also made a washcloth

Its pink, I don't like pink but it came with some other eBay yarn so I am using it to get it out of here. *stuffs it in the box for the abused women's shelter*

This too is pink and didn't have a gauge size listed. It was supposed to be a headband but turned out more like an earwarmer. Whatever it still works *tosses it in the box*
Also grandpa's b-day is fast approching so I have finally started his socks. I have less than 2 inches of ribbing done on the first one. I can so make them in time. >.>
They are gonna be "secret" red so we'll see how that goes.
Oh I also finally took some photos of the kitchen. However I am too lazy to make them blog pretty so you just get to see the knobs.
All the door/drawer pulls used to be...
After some paint they are now...
The whole kitchen was painted that color. Its banana whip yellow and really makes the kitchen look more "mine" and less late 70's early 80's fulgy.
Last but not least, the required cat photos. :)
The newest member of the family is Kwatro (aka four)
As you can see he has only three legs, we have no real idea what happened there as he was a feral kitty. We named him 4 as he is the 4th one and I liked it better than "Forest Gimp" as well as finding it amusing to name a 3 legged creature four.
He has been fitting in well so far

I think Old Man is wishing he was still the "baby" though. :)

Stuff

So yesterday at 5 pm I finished caulking my bath tub for the THIRD time since becoming a homeowner. You think being a perfectionist at knitting is bad, try being like that with caulk. The stuff takes 24 hours to cure and considering there is but one bathroom in this place you have to plan ahead to be not showering but bathing in the sink. Have you ever tried washing hair that is about 3" from you bum in the kitchen sink? There is much cursing of the drain and neck soreness from all that freaking hair. Having said that, I love my hair and can not wait until it actually reaches my bum, that will be the longest it has ever been. I actually fear when I will have to get it cut as it will be like losing a major part of my life. Last time I "chopped" it off I cried.

As for the knitting, my love of this bag is currently at a negative amount. From now on I am going to learn from this and ignore the patterns suggested needle size when I see fit. Honestly who knits double stranded worsted weight on size 7 needles? Its like making cardboard!

The socks are still not started, what can I say I was busy painting and caulking and getting a headache from the fumes. I also have the dilemma of trying to figure out what gauge to knit them at.

On a closing note I have Quad in a clothes basket with a cat toy and he is having a BLAST! The toy never strays to far from him and he is building up experience with slippery surfaces. Its hard to walk on tile with 3 feet that are covered with fur... For those that might be wondering, he can no longer be contained with the "wall" and now basically has free run of the house. This means you have to look before you move at all times and cords are now in grave danger.

Wow

Well its been an interesting few days around here to say the least. I am now officially 1 year older, my grandma made it to the other side of another birthday as well. Now we just have to get grandpa to the other side of his next birthday and we'll be doing good.

The little 3 legged monster is growing like a weed and will have to go in for his shots this coming week. Then we'll get a little better idea of how we are doing with keeping him alive, is he growing at the correct rate and so on.

Yesterday in an attempt to avoid the hot ickyness of the outdoors I painted our kitchen, dummy me forgot to take before pictures so I am gonna have to dig some up, I have to take after photos too...

I also started another new knitting project, and I have yet another one to get working on. The current WIP is a bag, the pattern is fairly loopy in that it doesn't tell you a gauge to be knitting at. The goofy pattern just tells you use this size needle and this kind of yarn, kinda annoys my inner anal retentive knitter.

The project that has yet to be started is socks for grandpa. They didn't have the colors I need in the same yarn so I am gonna have to do some math and thinking to figure out how I am gonna make the socks work. When I asked him what color he wanted he said red, then changed his mind and said black would go with more stuff. So I am going to be making "secret" red socks, the ribbing and toes will be red and the rest will be black, I might to the heels in red too I am not sure yet.

I think that's enough rambling for now, I have a boat load of things to do and so little time to get it all done. I am sure everyone knows that feeling.

23 years of experience

Well today is the day. I am flipping just the one digit to make it to the big 2-3!

I got some pretty nifty gifts, like a garden hose and hose reel and a little rubber ducky for the bath. No card though, its playing hide and seek. :) The family (mom, me and the gps) are going out for my b-day and my granma's on the 24th, her b-day is the 23rd. So there will be more card/gift swapping then too. For now I am just chilling around the house doing as little as I can. =D

In other news, the kitten, is about 6 weeks old and has "velcro" paws.

Four

Well I have been knitting and working and doing other things. As of late I have absolutly no motivation to do anything. I have been playing on the internet trying to find some way to make a little cash. With a bit of luck I will be able to make a decent income and be able to get a job that I LOVE rather than one that pays the bills.

In the land of knitting, I got mom's headband thing done. I got some more books from the lib and found some patterns that are fun looking. Now I just have to swatch the patterns and see if I like them then I have to figure out if I really want to make the things up. Its really strange because the last few projects I have done have been on size US5 and smaller. Some of these patterns are on US10.5. Its weird knitting with bigger needles again. Fun though. Maybe I need to do a quicky chunky yarn project to get some mojo back.

Lastly before I head off the reason this post was named 4 is in honor of the newest member of the family. He is a little >8 weeks old kitten. Something happened to him though and he is missing his left rear foot so =( about that. The people I got him from (they were in no way prepared to care for him after finding him) had named him Forest Gimp. I thought that was a poor name so he has been renamed Cuatro. Mom has some funky way of spelling it that I have yet to learn. However I have taken to just calling him Quad or Monster.

Well I best be off now, more swatching to do before work 6:30 - 9:30 waste of time if you ask me because I'll prolly get out at 9 but whatever.

Busy little bee

So its been a fun few days here.

I finished mom's socks, they need to be "freshened" a little bit so they look less like blobs and more like socks.

I also knit a little headband/earwarmer thing for her. Just need to get some ties put on it so it will always fit nice without screwing up the hair.

Got some more yarn (I am a knitter its what I do...) to make socks for the granpa, he said he wanted red but then changed it to "they should be black, black goes with more stuff" so I am making them black, except for the toes and the ribbing, that's gonna be red so they are "secret" red socks. I also got some sock yarn for me, its about bloody time I make something for myself don't ya think.

I also have a million things to take photos of that I have at various stages of doneness. For now though I should really take care of the pets, feed the cats, clean fish tanks, shower and all that boring stuff. After all I do have to work today, from 9 PM to 4 AM. Dumb inventory...
