Earache...
I was just on the local lib website and looked up Pearl-McPhee. Looking for more yarn harlot books. The search tool asked me and I quote, "Did you mean Earache?"
That struck me as odd, very odd indeed.

Snow Day!
Remember the days when you were young and carefree and wished for snow days so you could spend the day playing at home? Well today was one of those days. We had rain last night and then snow all day today and its blowing and drifting around. Work called me today at like 3 p.m. and said my one appointment had canceled and to not risk coming to work. That's why I like that job, the boss views as her kids and wants to make sure we are safe and happy. So I made use of that time to knit and be a bum. If they had not called me today I would have been working straight 7 day weeks from 1/5 - 2/4. So needless to say I was rather happy to have an unexpected day off and a valid reason to not leave the house.
Now I am not much for taking WIP photos but here is what I managed to get before the camera died. Its a little thing to toss over the seat of a chair in an effort to keep the cat hair off. I had lots of yarn left over from the little kiddy shawl I made so I figured I would knit up a little mindless yarn eating object. :)

Its the standard stitch pattern I use for washcloths, not hard but interesting enough that I don't go catatonic making it.

Lastly I have some random photos that I feel the need to "show off" =D

That was taken this afternoon from the doorway, last night the drive was clear of snow. There is twice as much out there now.

That would be my crazy little TidBit. I had to go potty and she took that opportunity to make herself to home in my pj pants... Shes a freak but I love her.

Lastly we have photos of how the kids think snow days should be spent. Frankly I agree with them.

I have a headache
As the title states I have a headache, it just randomly arrived today while I was at job number two. (I still find time to knit, this amazes me.) I think it was from stress and lots of dumb questions. Either way I will be doing some knitting in hopes of stress level lowering.
As for my day it was a busy one, got up and @ 6 got my crap together and made it to work, EARLY even. Worked at job one from 7:30 till 11:00 then tore off home, changed clothes "freshened" myself inhaled food, ran back out to the car when and drop off papers and lib books, whined while driving past the LYS because I didn't have time to stop, went to job number two caught up on what was going on in the world of taxes for the day, made note of the fact there were no appointments in the book for the 4 hours I was supposed to be there and got ready to sit and enjoy a nice time with my stitch and bitch nation book.
Fast forward 4 hours:
I now have a throbbing headache and would dearly love to hurt whoever started all the news postings about the government giving people money for no real reason other than to "fix" the economy. I have just completed my 4th tax return of the day, dealt with the 21st phone call of people wanting something, had to deal with 6 people wanting their checks, one lady trying to get me to do her taxes for free and goodness knows how many people asking me as they walked by, "Ya bored?!"
So overall I have had better days and I am really looking forward to being in the "slow" office in the morning so that I can get caught up on the other work I was supposed to try and get done today. With luck I will be able to get some knitting time in as well as get my shopping done after work. The roads were icky tonight and people were being dumb, need more be said.
Hope all have had a good day and I'll see ya on the flip side.

Another cold day
Today was yet another in a series of freaking cold days. However unlike many of the lucky knitters whos blogs I have happened accross this weekend. I had to venture out, daily for work. Not that I was really required to do that much while at work, most of my time was spent sitting waiting for customers to call/stop in. However the car did protest greatly at my need to leave the house. On the thread of work I discovered today that I am scheduled 49.5 hours at one job (doing taxes)this week and 9.5 at the other job. Next week I am scheduled 43 hours at one job and goodness knows how many at the other. I think its going to be a long few weeks and it will only get better as tax season has hardly gotten off to a good start yet.
In other news I have requested the 4th of Feb off for a little day trip so I don't die of over-work. There is a trip to the twin cities planned for some yarn store gazing and perhaps a trip to the MN zoo dependant on the weather. If its freaking cold I am not gonna hike around looking at empty enclousers because the animals are smart enough to be out of the cold.
Despite all the hours I will be working I am still finding time to knit and so on. Might have something to do with the fact that at this time last year I was a full time student with 6 classes, one of which was preparing peoples taxes, and 2 part time jobs giving me about 40 hours a week between the two of them. One was helping students at the local technical college with their accounting homework and the other was preparing tax returns at the same place I am working this year. I sat down and figured out that I prepared about 200 actual tax returns last year along with helping people prepare about another 30-50 for homework. As I have said before it takes a special kind of freak to be an accountant and/or a tax preparer for that matter.
Well its off to a nice knitting murder mystery for me while I wait for my bedding to dry, with luck I'll get to bed at a normal time tonight.

Yarn, cats and cold
Well it was another balmy winter day here in WI, this morning when I woke up the weather people said the wind chill was -20 to -40. The car protested when I ran out to start it and the poor thing had to be parked in the full sun at work so I knew it would be OK when I got done. Supposed to be slightly warmer Sunday and lucky me I don't have to be out and about till noon so hopefully the poor car will be a little more friendly with more time to thaw in the morning.
Also I have been knitting more dishrags and in so doing I got the idea to use the extra yarn I bought to make a fun little lap blankie for when I am at the computer or sitting watching TV. Just something big enough to keep the cat hair off my lap without annoying the cats. So far its not looking to bad if I might say so myself. Photos will be forth coming, I promise!
Also I found a pattern in Stitch 'N Bitch nation that I want to try out. Only problem is I cant seem to find the yarn. I want to use Berroco's Plush in the black (or whatever it is they are calling black) If anyone reads this and knows of where I could get some I would appreciate a heads-up.
Well I am tired and its that time of the day so its off to bed for me, all that's left is to herd the cats to their proper night time spots. :)

Bad Blogger
OK I am officially calling myself a bad blogger. I am online everyday reading other people's blogs I just never get around to posting in my own. This time I am going to use the excuse that I didn't want to post without photos.

In non-knitting news, I will be working everyday till the 27th, some days at both jobs so the paychecks will be nice that way. For once I am going to spend some of that money on ME! I will be getting an exercise bike. I have a perfectly good real bike that I didn't ride last year because I was embarrassed at being out of shape like I am. I also hate the idea of going to a gym and working out because I get bored, and I don't like being all gross in public. So the bike at home is the perfect solution, I can sit and knit, or read, or watch a movie while I exercise. I figure multitasking with the the bike and yarn/movie/book for an hour or two a few days a week should get me back into fighting shape without me feeling like I am working out. (Ya gotta love tricking yourself into being healthier.)
Anywho time for the meat and potatoes of this all. I have been a busy little knitter making mittens for my girlfriend's kids as I promised I would.
In progress...The photos are 2 different mittens

The finished products, blue are for Josh(1 year old) pink are for Rachie (2 years old). Mom dresses Rachie in pinks and purples and Josh in greens and blues.

I also found a really cute pattern for a poncho for a little one and there was some super cute fuzzy yarn on sale so of course I had to get that and crank out a little something cute that is multi functional and will hopefully fit her for awhile to come. Its just 2 rectangles stitched together to make a triangle shaped poncho. Its a really lacy looking stitch pattern created with yarn-overs on size 15's.

I also finally took a photo of the washcloth that I cast on at work the other day out of sheer boredom. Its the first one I ever made so I figure why not take a photo. Also I finished the flower washcloth for my friend, Jen. Making it was educational but not so easy on the hands. I don't think there will be to many of them made unless I am bribed with something, yarn, goodies or other fun things.

Tax Season, Phones and Life
As anyone that lives in the US knows April 15th is a national day of stress. For me its even better, I am one of the people that helps all the poor tax confused people figure out what they owe or what they are getting back. Either way it means that for the next few months I am going to be more therapeutic knitting due to the stress that comes from tax season. :) I also got a new phone the other day. It's a Samsung A437 and its RED! Its the first flip phone I have ever had, its got a camera and its fun fun fun! Only problem is that to get the phone I had to sign up for a new contract so there is gonna be a super high bill coming next month, curses for the people that make us prepay for phone contracts. Then there was another problem with them giving me crap about not being about to keep the two phones on the same plan. So I went to a different cell phone office and they got it all figured out so both phones are on the same plan again. Made me super happy, because the phone bill is now like $20 less per month compared to what it was on the old plan.
In other news I have been buying some yarn gonna be casting on a few things this weekend. Used up some of the old yarn making mittens for the son of one of my friends, gotta cast on for the mittens for the her daughter as well. I was also really bored at work today, I was sent to sit in the slowest office with nothing to do but read about tax laws and how to apply them. So I bribed my mom to drop some yarn off on her way past the office. She dropped off some size 7's and a ball off Peaches & Cream. I found a pattern on the Internet and at the end of the day I have a brand new washcloth. There is another pattern for a flower shaped washcloth that I am going to cast on for the same friend who's kids are getting the mittens. I figured that mom desires something nice just for her. I am trying to find some other little tidbits that she might like to go along with the face cloth.
I meant to have photos of all my progress but the sun left before I got home so hopefully I'll be able to set some Fri and post them up for comments.

A sock and a mug cozy
So today is a day of more knitting firsts for me. I made my first sock ever today. However I think the pattern creates more of a slipper than a sock so that one is going in the trash.
Behold the wonderful white sock.
I also made a cup cozy for my mother, she has a favorite coffee/hot coca joint and they don't give paper mug cozies with the mugs so she needed one.
Again in white, I have a lot of white yarn.
There would be more photos but I am still working on the best way to take shots of the knitting. Next up on the list is those darn mittens I promised to make for my friends kids. I have a subscription for Netflicks so I have been watching Law and Order reruns on the pc while I knit.

SALE!
Hello again, I am just back from yarn shopping. The local shop is selling all yarn 30% off till Sat, I just found out last night. Either way I got some nice yarns for good prices. I am thinking of maybe picking some more up before work sat as well.
In other news I am going to attempt to make a sock, we'll see how that turns out, photos to follow.
The cats are trying to help me type this... :)

A new year
Well here we are on the other side of 2007, what a year it has been. I lost friends, gained more, graduated from college, changed jobs, had many new experiences, bought a house and got back into knitting. I can't wait to see what 2008 has in store for me.
Now as promised my stash photos (finally!) Try not to laugh its not as big as some people stash but its mine all the same.
Also on the menu today is my first ever needle knit circular item! Its the unbilical cord hat by Jennifer from Stitch and Bitch. I did take the cord off as I was in a hurry to finish and I was having issues with the cord. Drum roll please...

Now lets hear it for the HOT PINK yarn in there! This stash is all ebay finds and therefore I can not be held responisble for that yarn. =D

Disclaimer: Please forgive my horrible photo skills, they are still being fine tuned for yarn photo work.
In my free time I also made a loom knit hat for my granpa.

The lower part that folds up is made with the double loop method (i think thats what its called) so its a denser fabric and will keep your ears warmer. Its also inside out in the photo thats why its rolling down like it is.
As for the rest of life... well the cats spilled my water all over the keyboard the other day so half my keys don't work, that means momma gets a new keyboard! I will also be starting my seasonal tax job soon so I have to get nice clothes for that and I have made the choice to start eating better and taking better care of myself. Its not a weight loss goal so much as a better health goal. And on that note we are going to close with a photo of Shilo, the queen kitty.
